The transportation of a 360‑ton ultra‑heavy methanol production reactor, manufactured by Machine Sazi Arak (MSA), has commenced, destined for Bandar Abbas Port.
After traveling approximately 1,500 kilometers by road and 600 kilometers via maritime routes, the reactor will ultimately be installed at the Siraf Energy Petrochemical Complex located in Dayyer Port, Bushehr Province.
This unit represents the final shipment among a total of 24 items of equipment supplied for the Siraf and Sabalan II methanol petrochemical projects. With the completion of these projects, Iran’s methanol production capacity will increase by 10,000 tons per day.
Through the localization of design, engineering, and manufacturing of this 5,400‑ton project by the Machine Sazi Arak contracting, engineering, and manufacturing group, and in full compliance with the latest international standards, Iran has joined the five leading countries worldwide possessing the technology and capability to design and manufacture methanol process equipment.
This achievement not only demonstrates the country’s advanced industrial capabilities in methanol production equipment, but also marks a significant step toward self‑sufficiency and reduced reliance on foreign technologies.
Methanol, as one of the key products of the petrochemical industry, plays a vital role in meeting domestic demand as well as supporting exports. The implementation of this project is expected to further strengthen Iran’s position in global markets.
